A Scott Township woman who is a three-year survivor of thyroid cancer is trying to raise money and awareness for the fight against the disease.
Christine Sypien is organizing the Pilates and More for a Cure fundraiser on Sept. 29 at Fitness Fanatics in Great Southern Shopping Center.
The event will go from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will offer food, door prizes, a Chinese auction and speakers talking about thyroid cancer. Sypien hopes it will raise awareness about the disease and allow people to share their stories and offer strength to others.
?It?s a goal that I have,? she said. ?I educate a lot of people through Facebook. A lot about what I?ve learned and what I?ve experienced.?
The fundraiser costs $20 per person and you can either buy tickets at the door or pre-register by emailing Sypien at mrssyp@gmail.com. She said the four speakers with offer advice on ?how to live a healthier life after having thyroid cancer.?
