PET ORGANIZATION GIVEBONES
COLLABORATE FOR FEBRUARY?S
?NATIONAL RESPONSIBLE PET OWNERS MONTH?

Duo Hosts Twitter Contest to Raise Awareness for Pet Safety and Health

LOS ANGELES (February 13, 2013)? World-renowned veterinarian Dr. Jan Pol from National Geographic WILD?s #1 series The Incredible Dr. Pol joins forces with charitable company Givebones for February?s National Responsible Pet Owners Month. United in their mission to decrease the number of homeless and euthanized pets in the United States each year, Dr. Pol and Givebones will host a Twitter contest beginning on Valentine?s Day and ending on February 27th, 2013, which marks National Spay Day, to promote and encourage responsible pet ownership techniques. One lucky pet owner will win a care package of animal friendly swag and Givebones will make a donation on behalf of the winner to The Humane Animal Treatment Society (HATS).

?Approximately 3.7 million animals are euthanized each year due to overcrowding and poorly-funded shelters,? says Dr. Pol. ?Spaying and neutering is the best way to prevent overcrowding in shelters. I admire and support organizations like Givebones that recognize the importance of rescuing pets and helping shelters around the country.?

Givebones? mission is to generate awareness and financial support to help reduce the amount of homeless dogs euthanized each year. By selling dog collars, Givebones provides funding to animal shelters and rescue groups striving to help dogs in need.

?I?m thrilled to have Dr. Pol?s support and want our partnership to inspire animal lovers everywhere to join the movement and support this vital cause,? says Tricia Andrews, founder of Givebones. ?Purchasing a Givebones collar is one more way you can be a responsible pet owner.?

Givebones gives back 10 percent of sales to shelters and rescue groups. The purchase of one collar keeps three dogs warm and fed in a shelter for an additional day. Givebones collars are available in a wide variety of colors and in extra small, small, medium and large sizes for the retail price of $14.99. A complimentary Givebones wristband comes with each purchase allowing animal lovers to show their support and help give their dog a voice.

Contest Details: The Twitter contest begins on February 14th and end on February 27th. Participants must follow both Dr. Pol (@Dr.Pol) and Givebones (@Givebones) on Twitter and tweet a photo of their pet along with the pets name at both @Dr.Pol and @Givebones. A winner will be chosen at random and will receive a care package of an assortment of Givebones collars, wristbands, and DVDS of The Incredible Dr. Pol. Additionally, Givebones will make a donation to HATS on behalf of the winner.
