Fort Wayne man becomes new AARP Indiana president

AARP Indiana has selected a longtime volunteer from Fort Wayne as its next president.

The advocacy group announced the selection of Curt Sylvester Tuesday.

Sylvester says he looks forward to furthering the organization's mission of improving and redefining life for Hoosiers over 50 years old.

Sylvester's background includes teaching and ministry work. He has volunteered with AARP Indiana since 2006 and became a member of the Executive Council in 2010.

AARP Indiana's president serves as the main volunteer spokesperson in the state, chairs the group's Indiana executive council and develops strategic plans and activities for the organization.
