Do You Take Out Travel Insurance When Going on Holiday ...

If you want to know what is going on in the Travel Industry, then it seems that Friday is the best day of the week to get all the travel gossip!

As we stride into the weekend (when many people choose to book their holidays abroad), surveys, studies and holiday reports are released by the dozen, and if you want to know where to travel, when to travel, and why to travel, you just need to Google ?holidays and travel news? to access the latest streams of tips and advice.

Today?s headlines include ?Summer bookings boosted by poor weather?, ?Don?t leave home without these Apps? and ?One in five Britons have never been on a foreign holiday?, but one that instantly caught my eye was ?Brits travelling abroad this summer won?t take enough spending money or travel insurance?!

The report carried out by MoneySupermarket.com found that the average Briton travelling abroad takes luggage and personal belongings worth almost ?1,500, but that one in five do not take out the correct travel insurance to protect their travel essentials.

Despite the fact that two million Brits have suffered ?luggage trauma? (loss of theft of their suitcase), a whooping four million of those surveyed admitted that they had never purchased travel insurance for a holiday abroad, and only a fifth of those with insurance had the right policy for their trip.

As most of us insist on taking our iPads, Laptops, and Smart phones abroad, the collective value of UK holidaymaker?s luggage is ?32billion each year, and if the results of the survey are anything to go by, it seems that most of it is uninsured!

What are your views on Travel Insurance? Do you take out a policy when you go on holiday, or do you prefer to take the risk?? We would love to hear your thoughts on the subject, so please drop us a line and let us know!
