Internet availability is the focus of an August 3 event in Albuquerque.

Using broadband Internet access to grow New Mexico?s economy and accelerate community development is the focus of a summit August 3 in Albuquerque.

Organizers of the "Statewide Broadband Summit" said attendees can ?help build recommendations for policymakers and companies."

?Internet broadband connectivity is becoming as fundamental a utility as water, electricity and phone service. Due to widespread rural and tribal communities, and New Mexico?s rocky landscape, statewide access to affordable and reliable broadband can be a challenge,? a news release said.

Topics at the event include digital literacy, education, economic development, health, governance and collaboration and tribal issues.
