WEIGHT LOSS CAMPSHANE KIDS TEENS ? FAT CAMP

by Boot Camps on July 30, 2011

When you think of fat camp, you may be thinking of heavyweights, lunches being canceled due to lack of hustle. Camp Shane stands for TEAM, together everyone achieves more. What this means is we support each other toward a common goal. We become friends. We encourage, motivate and inspire one another to succeed. No matter what age, gender or size, we all work together to make fitness enjoyable. It?s non-stop excitement with go-carts, jet skiing, sports, arts and crafts, dance, aerobics, paintball, our eco river adventure, unique, crazy events where everyone is included like our carnival; and the action doesn?t stop there because the nights are jam-packed from dances to even talent shows.
We have really helpful rap sessions with guidance counselors to build our self-esteem and create a camp where we can care about each other. We have nutrition and fitness classes that give us the tools to succeed when we get home. But the best thing about camp is the people. You become one big family. Our Commitment to Care Program, each of us agreed to make camp a place where everyone feels safe and cared for and mostly where we treat others the way that we want to be treated. We share each other?s experiences. We relate to each other and talk about life at home and at school

Belichick adept at landing flawed, high-upside talent | Daily ...

By Antonio D?Arcangelis

On the surface, New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick doesn?t seem to care much about people?s feelings. He shares more character traits with the pragmatic late Dr. Kevorkian than the effusive, dramatic Dr. Drew. But one thing he has in common with both is that he?s good at helping folks find their happy place. He took a dismissed sixth-round draft pick and turned him into the Tom Brady we know now, helped spin the tortured Randy Moss from a washed-up Oakland malcontent into a top No. 1 receiver again, and he transformed ho-hum Wes Welker into a confident, foot-joke-cracking Pro-Bowler with amazing credentials.

Now, in one fell swoop, he?s landed both flashy wideout Chad Ochocinco and embattled interior defender Albert Haynesworth ? players that will undoubtedly help the Patriots compete for another AFC East title this season. Both Ochocinco and Haynesworth had disappointing 2010 seasons, and neither is the poster boy for discipline, selflessness and subordination.

Ochocinco?s celebrity has reached Brady-like proportions, and Haynesworth has been maligned for his inability to follow team rules and set his enormous ego aside. The Bengals and Redskins organizations are pretty dysfunctional, so it?s not like the two were in situations that promoted stability and satisfaction. The Patriots have a sympathetic owner, a recent winning tradition, and a future plan for success. And Belichick, with his subtle coaching hand, straightforward approach and even-tempered (almost robotic) personality, knows just how to get the most out of his players.

I?m not certain that Ochocinco and Haynesworth could play for some of the more traditional coaching greats. Guys like Vince Lombardi, Tom Landry, John Madden, Mike Ditka and Bill Parcells might not be able to put up with their crap, but Belichick is different, although he?s been as successful as any coach in the past 40 years.

There are some risks involved in bringing a guy like Haynesworth in, even if the price was cheap (a 2013 fifth-round). Last year, Haynesworth missed offseason workouts and moaned incessantly about Mike Shanahan?s 3-4 defense ? a scheme he didn?t think played up his talents. He didn?t practice until he passed the conditioning test (which was halfway through the second week of camp), endured a quiet season, and subsequently was suspended for the final four games for ?conduct detrimental to the club.? He also has his share of legal woes, and is scheduled for trial on Aug. 23 on a misdemeanor sexual abuse charge. An incident where he allegedly fondled a waitress at a hotel bar in Washington prompted those charges, although the hefty DL has pleaded not guilty.

Belichick also runs the 3-4, and while it?s a different version of the hybrid holdover from Romeo Crennel?s days as defensive coordinator, it?s a flexible defense that should benefit from adding the DE-capable Haynesworth to the already dominant duo of Ty Warren and Vince Wilfork.

The deal that involves Ochocinco, on the other hand, has yet to be disclosed, although it?s hard to imagine the Pats giving up much for just another receiving option for Tom Brady. The reticent Belichick hasn?t been much of a spendthrift in the past, and it?s hard to believe he?s going to shell out big dough for a 33-year-old receiver coming off one of his worst seasons ever (67-831-4).

In any event, both these moves were shrewd relocations for two top talents, and Belichick has shown once again that he?s a master at identifying other people?s problems and turning them into successful components of a perennial playoff contender in New England.

People who offload trucks must know how to work hand cranked and electrical hoist used to open industrial garage doors. These are just a few things off loaders need to understand. Of course, there are basic rules to safety and detailed steps on how to lift properly. Nevertheless, treat these doors with respect as they are heavy and so are the hoist. They can be extremely dangerous if handled improperly. The fact that commercial doors get more action than residential doors is probably the most considered fact over all others.

Adventure Photography ? Travel and Leisure

Article by Dr. Kramer

Working as a designer of outdoor equipment that requires a lot of activity in my adventures and adventurers interact with different communities to participate. Off to catch my interest in this action which began the adventure. At first I was just doing research, looking for inspiration for the product development and testing of the correctness of the product works before they are sold. Occurred but through the experiences I have many unexpected moments that also sorry that I miss are. The purpose of photographing it changes a little in me. It is serious not only for the Documentation of research, but also learn photography adventure. Capturing the perfect moment when shooting the action adventure is a tempting challenge. Various adventure activities will lead to another challenge as well. It says in the image of the extreme adventure of the action that the highest value of the photos you have. It takes hard work to capture the perfect moment. Another challenge is that sometimes they are not familiar with the site. Therefore we must prepare. A well-done preparation will help us in dealing with all kinds of possibilities. Adventure Photography adventure means that we participate in the same adventure. If you are willing to get, we will enjoy the adventure. Physical preparation before departure, especially if we are to endure a long trip to do. Shooting adventure requires us, as an ?all-wheel-photographers? as we face uncertain natural state. We know that photography requires high concentration. When taking photos of the adventure we need to focus on how the trip (eg how to configure your computer and our services during the trip), how to survive, or how to focus a perfect moment in a difficult area to capture handle. Good resistance against our performance during the filming of support in the open. Regular exercise routine to help us stay healthy. I usually add my workout at least a month before the day of filming. If you take a picture of climbing, their need to exercise its strength in short-track promotion focus climbing (bouldering). This exercise is necessary because we find the view of the upper zone, either up or need a string above. For pictures of the mountain, the exercise focuses on her strength to go along a slope with an upward direction. This exercise is useful in the detection of foot-activities, which move actively to photographers capture moments from several directions. Sometimes the photographer is the mobility exceeds the climbers. Since the value shows the dramatic moment of the adventure is directly proportional to the degree of difficulty of the adventure. The crucial element is not only the act itself, but also by the strained faces of the adventurers are acquired, while from dangers and difficulties, and their happy moments, the passion expressed for the adventure. These elements can be points of interest in the photos. However, the most important is the essence of the intention to do an adventurer these activities difficult and dangerous ? this is an eternal spirit to the limits of human ability to explore. This should be captured in the photograph at the time of the adventure.

The Singular Exploits of Wonder Mom & Party Girl Book Review ...

The Singular Exploits of Wonder Mom & Party Girl (Marc Schuster, The Permanent Press 2011 (PS Books 2009), 293 pages)
A review in which I mostly describe how awesome a writer he is, by Lavinia Ludlow

Marc Schuster, The Singular Exploits of Wonder Mom and Party Girl, 2011

The Singular Exploits of Wonder Mom and Party Girl

The Singular Exploits of Wonder Mom & Party Girl is a contemporary tale of a jaded divorcee named Audrey who raises her innocent and precocious daughters as a single mother, all while having to witness her ex-husband move on and assume the role of the ?cool weekend parent.? In addition, her career involves overseeing a local coupon book?s production, ironically titled Eating Out, and she somehow finds herself herded into volunteering for the local school?s Good Shepherd Teacher-and-Parent Organization, a committee with a controversial acronym of a name. In short, Audrey is riddled with sarcasm and bitterness, nostalgic for the past, and so low self-esteemed and jaded that she doesn?t realize that her search for gratification in a relationship with a supercilious asshole, and her ?just one taste? of cocaine would instantaneously launch her into full-blown addiction.

You may ask (and Marc Schuster is probably wondering) why my lazy ass dragged its feet when it came to diving into his novel The Singular Exploits of Wonder Mom & Party Girl, released by The Permanent Press May 1st, 2011. I can sum it up with a simple: its 2009 debut at PS Books wowed me to such epic proportions that I hesitated to read a revised version for fear of finding it stripped of substance.

I won?t loiter around the revisions too much seeing as The Permanent Press? version broke the boundaries of its predecessor. The thing about Schuster is that he?s a chameleon of a writer. His writing bursts with personality, even in the most brief and simple descriptions: ?Owen lost his virginity at fourteen to a girl with a driver?s license and a banged-up Buick Century. I lost mine in college to a boy who wrote poetry and played raspy punk songs on an un-tuned acoustic guitar.? And damnit, this guy can write: ?The spare, spiky Philadelphia skyline glittered in the night and reminded me of the days when I used to dream of being a hip, young urbanite scraping by on the meager earnings of a freelance writer, and though we?d barely driven a half-hour, the sturdy old neighborhood where Owen touched down was light years away from the prefabricated neon sheen of the Golden Mile.?

Schuster presents his material brilliantly through the eyes of a whip-smart and sassy female, never relying on clich?d characteristics that the majority of men assume all women possess. His writing is polished, professional, and reads effortlessly in this classic example of the ?there?s something for everyone? tale: well-rounded with comedy, conflict, light fares of sex, drugs, and serio-comic dialogue. Take this one between Audrey and her adolescent daughter: ?Are you ever going to get married again?? Because dad says you?re the kind of woman who doesn?t need a man.?

All in all, this is an entertaining read, a must-read. The fact is, Marc Schuster has one of the most refreshing voices in the contemporary literature scene, writing with a style that rivals novelists such as Joe Meno and Brad Listi. I look forward to his sophomore novel The Grievers, forthcoming in May of 2012.

To Sem Or Not To Sem, Search Engine Marketing And Seo, Websites In ...

Search engine marketing is not just about top search engine rankings or search engine traffic. It is about search engine traffic that increases a company?s profits. Search engine marketing is an important part of every Internet marketing strategy or IMS, and with the growth of search engines and e-commerce over the past few years, search engine marketing is required as an integral part of every company?s approach to Internet marketing.

?

The SEMplicity approach to search engine marketing is proven to drive qualified traffic and conversions to company?s websites through targeted search techniques. Search engine marketing is without a doubt the most important form of online marketing and search engine optimization or SEO, considered by many to be a subset of search engine marketing, is a term used to describe a process of improving the volume of web traffic to websites.

?

Search engine marketing is an efficient way to increase sales by using the unique attributes of the web and is the practice of marketing and advertising through Internet search engines which is a critical component of a company?s marketing strategy.

?

Search engine marketing is the use of the Internet to advertise and sell goods and services utilizing search engine optimization and local search optimization. Local search engine marketing is vital for businesses who know their prospects are using the search engines to find their products or service within a given area.

?

Search engine marketing is a rapidly growing industry, and if a company is not focused in on this area and their competitors probably are, by not investing in this powerful form of advertising which is SEM, online marketing opportunities arise and evolve, those companies who wait, lose.

?

Search engine marketing is a relatively inexpensive marketing channel that delivers results measurable enough for the boardroom and SEO with search engine marketing is actually the important way to gain websites? success. SEM is all about results and is the key to good search engine listings. For most businesses, excellent search engine listing results will unleash an unexpectedly large amount of web traffic to their websites.

?

One reason for this growth in online SEM is that companies are finding that search engine marketing is today?s best interactive tool for driving carefully targeted audiences to their products or services. A definition of Search Engine Marketing is broad enough to encompass all of the search venues business customers are using.

?

Organic search engine marketing is the process of continually updating and improving a website with relevant text and using the appropriate HTML markup to showcase the products or services for businesses to succeed on the web. Organic search engine marketing is no longer an optional activity for revenue producing websites, nowadays, it is essential, if a company?s website is to compete effectively on the Internet.

?

Search engine marketing is essentially a term to define the process of providing visibility to a website through the search engine result pages or SERPS. Online search engine marketing is the most effective way of making sure a website is found on the SERPs or Search Engine Result Pages by web surfers looking for information on the Internet.

U.S. likely to lose top rating, say economists: Reuters poll (Reuters)

WASHINGTON/LONDON (Reuters) ? The United States will lose its top-notch AAA credit rating from at least one major rating agency, according to a Reuters poll that also found wrangling over the debt ceiling has already damaged the economy.

A small majority of economists -- 30 out of 53 -- surveyed over the past two days said the United States will lose its AAA credit rating from one of the three big ratings agencies -- Standard & Poor's, Moody's or Fitch.

Respondents saw a 20 percent chance of a new recession over the next year, a prospect that some economists say has been compounded by the acrimonious political fight over what is normally a procedural legislative vote on the debt.

Lawmakers have one week left to hash out a deficit-cutting plan without which Republicans in Congress have said they will not raise the legal $14.3 trillion debt limit, risking a potentially devastating government debt default in August.

"We believe that Congress will act with an 11th hour deal to raise the debt ceiling. However, the risk of that deal failing increases with each passing day," said Guy LeBas, director at Janney Capital Markets.

"I would say that the chance of a U.S. ratings downgrade is now more likely than not."

Economists still see the probability of an outright default on U.S. Treasury bonds as remote -- 5 percent on median. But the average forecast was 13 percent, and estimates ranged from no chance at all to a 65 percent chance.

Downgrade and default would have vastly different consequences. A ratings cut might raise the risk of recession by hurting confidence, but might allow financial markets to muddle through the next few months without incident. A default, however, would send shockwaves through the global financial system that could kick-start a new financial crisis, say analysts.

Even if this worst-case scenario is not borne out, a firm majority of respondents -- 38 out of 54 -- said the uncertainty brought about by the political acrimony over the debt has already hurt economic growth.

The U.S. economy had already been under stress in recent months. Gross domestic product expanded just 1.9 percent in the first three months of the year, and the second quarter is not expected to have fared much better. Industrial production has slowed and employment nearly ground to a halt in the last two months. The jobless rate climbed to 9.2 percent in June.

"This whole debt ceiling debate doesn't seem to be making anyone any more confident," said Sean Incremona, economist at 4Cast Ltd. in New York.

Goldman Sachs argued in a research note recently that the decline in consumer sentiment over the last few months has been disproportionate to the economy's slowdown, pegging the debt battle as a culprit.

The government's first reading on GDP in the second quarter will be released on Friday.

Product Description

Appearances?

A sad, strange coincidence?that's Dr. Kacey Lambert's initial response to the deaths of two women who bear an uncanny resemblance to herself. It's not like there was any real connection between Kacey and the B-movie actress or the elementary school teacher. But Detective Selena Alvarez suspects otherwise.

Can Be?

One of the bodies contained traces of poison at the time of death. Selena and her partner, Detective Regan Pescoli, can find no motive for murder. But Kacey has started to notice ties between the dead women's lives and her own-all close in age, born within miles of each other. And all have links to Trace O'Halleran, the man Kacey just started dating.

Deadly?

Friends with benefits: The relationships where male and female friends have ?no strings? sex? but it?s seldom that simple

I'll be there for you? Evie, who has been troubled by her casual romances

I?ll be there for you? Evie, who has been troubled by her casual romances

To a selfish man with commitment phobia, it might sound like the perfect relationship ? a close female friend with whom they can enjoy companionship, shared holidays, a good laugh?.?.?. and regular sex. All the benefits of a? committed relationship, in other words, but with none of the emotional or? practical ties.

Unconventional? Certainly. Unromantic? Absolutely. But not as unusual as it sounds.

For a growing number of young women, sleeping with a friend is no longer a taboo but a lifestyle choice. There is even a term for it ? Friends With Benefits ? the supposed benefit being that the friends not only enjoy each other?s company, but sleep with one another, too.

If it sounds a recipe for disaster, that?s because it very often is. As the forthcoming Hollywood film Friends With Benefits reveals, a no-strings relationship often leaves at least one half of the couple ? and usually it?s the woman ? feeling confused, unsatisfied, and wholly unconvinced by the ?benefits? they?re supposed to be relishing.

So why would any woman enter into such an arrangement in the first place?

Lucy Waterson is one of a growing number of young women in their late 20s and early 30s who have embarked on a Friend With Benefits liaison. She is an example of how confounding it can be to shift from a platonic relationship to a sexual one.

Her ?friend? is Doug Thompson and their no-strings arrangement has been in place for the past three years.

To be clear, by ?no strings? she means they are both free to pursue relationships with other people. The purpose of their meetings is purely physical, and neither harbours any expectation of commitment from the other person.

But, of course, things are rarely so clear cut. Lucy admits she feels jealous of Doug?s other relationships, is sometimes confused by their arrangement, and is keener on Doug than he is on her.

?We?re very close, yet each of us pulls back from a proper relationship,? says Lucy, 27, a television researcher who lives in North London.

?At times it is confusing, at others fun ? but sometimes he makes me feel jealous.

?I?ve even asked him why we can?t get it together and he says, flippantly, that I am not the kind of woman he wants to marry.

?I think I am more jealous of his other relationships than he is of mine, but we both know the score. I tell myself I want him to be happy and meet the right girl, but when he?s dating I get confused about my feelings. Doug says he respects me too much to lie to me and just isn?t ready to commit to a relationship.?

So this is hardly a no-strings-attached arrangement. But Lucy insists it?s the kind of relationship with which they are both happy. They see each other and sleep together until one of them meets someone else, at which point the physical side of their friendship stops. Or so the plan goes.

Evie with her ex-lover who is not identified. She said she has decided to draw a line under Friends with Benefits

Evie with her ex-lover who is not identified. She said she has decided to draw a line under Friends with Benefits

So how did they embark on a sexual relationship at all?

It began with a casual fling. ?When we met through friends, I wasn?t immediately attracted to Doug, even though he ticks a lot of boxes for me ? he?s dark-haired, dark-eyed, university-educated, intelligent and funny,? says Lucy. ?But we started teasing each other and there was definitely a spark between us.?

They met for a drink a few nights later, one thing led to another and they went to bed.

?It was just sex, for both of us. Sleeping together just seemed a natural progression,? says Lucy.

?Some weeks later, we both? agreed we didn?t want a serious involvement and that we would be better off as friends.?

So that is what they decided to become. Except they never quite shook off the physical side of their relationship, without progressing to becoming a proper couple.

So Lucy and Doug go to the theatre and cinema together, text and phone each other regularly and see each other at least twice a month. Doug has even gone so far as to meet Lucy?s parents.

?Lucy admits she feels jealous of Doug?s other relationships?

They liked him, but, understandably, they struggled to understand the nature of his relationship with their daughter.

Lucy sometimes has doubts herself.

?I think we need to keep the lines clearer between us, as it is emotionally confusing,? she says.

?One moment we are all? lovey-dovey, the next we?re messing about like pals. When we first met, I think Doug was more into me? than I was into him, but now the situation has reversed and I don?t know where I stand.

Some of my friends think it?s cool to have a friend with benefits, others think he is an idiot and should ask me out properly, as they say we?d make a great couple.?

That is certainly the view of Rachel Morris, a psychotherapist specialising in sex and relationships, who predicts an unhappy outcome for Lucy and Doug ? and for any other friends in a set-up likes theirs.

She says: ?Most of the women in these cases are seeking a proper relationship. In a way, it?s likely the man in this relationship is being quite callous. The emotional consequences are huge ? and someone is going to get hurt.?

She may be right. Lucy?s no-strings partner Doug, 27, who lives in St Albans and works in IT, seems well aware that there are faultlines in their arrangement.

?We probably shouldn?t have slept together, but we did,? he admits. ?I was worried it might affect our friendship, but Lucy seemed fine with us just being friends and sleeping together occasionally.

?Now, I think it bothers her more than it does me. I enjoy her company, and I love being with her ? I just don?t want to go out with her. I value her as a friend, though. She seems to understand me in a way that a lot of women don?t.?

Why, then, is he not willing to enter into a proper relationship?

Doug explains that he had just broken up with a previous girlfriend when he met Lucy and wasn?t looking to make another commitment. ?I?m picky,? he says.

?I have a feeling I?ll meet a woman and know she is perfect for me, but that hasn?t happened with Lucy.? The fact he is risking their friendship by treating her with so little respect seems not to occur to him.

It's complicated: Friends and lovers Doug and Lucy

It?s complicated: Friends and lovers Doug and Lucy

But as psychotherapist Rachel Morris points out, sex changes everything: the moment a woman becomes intimate with a friend, her feelings change irrevocably in a way that men?s simply don?t.

She explains: ?Young people today, male and female, pretend sex is no more important than a handshake. Yet intimacy has a profound effect on the emotions, which can be very confusing, especially for women.?

Rachel adds: ?A hormone called oxytocin is released in a woman?s brain during sex, which gives her a biological pre-determination to seek a connection with that man.

?Men, however, are biologically programmed to sow their seed and seem able to disconnect emotionally from sex in a way that women cannot. So friends with benefits relationships are often more emotionally confusing and upsetting for women.?

That may well prove to be the case for 27-year-old Martina Wilkinson, who is in a no-strings relationship with her old school friend Malcolm Atherton.

She insists she enjoys their arrangement, but admits it can be unsettling.

?We meet up every couple of weeks, go for a drink or see a film. Sometimes we sleep together, sometimes we don?t,? she says.?I wonder if our relationship might develop further if we let it, but we have reached the stage now where to express any emotion for each other would be embarrassing.?

Meanwhile, Malcolm, 28, a computer analyst living in Barking, Essex, is wondering how to tell Martina that he has met a woman he wants to have a conventional, committed relationship with.

He doesn?t seem to feel troubled by the fact that Martina is likely to find out by dint of this article.

Malcolm says: ?I have enjoyed my time with Martina but our relationship is confusing. We made? it clear we?re just? friends, but we have complicated the issue by sleeping together.

?I think when Martina finds out I?ve met someone I want to be my girlfriend, she?ll say we can still be friends.

?Then, if my relationship doesn?t work out, I can go back to Martina. Both ways, I win.?

His attitude seems shockingly clinical. All the more so because it was Malcolm who asked Martina out in the first place after they bumped into each other on a visit back to the hometown where they had once been school friends.

Martina, a youth support worker from Pinner, Middlesex, explains: ?Malcolm and I had dated at college but it was nothing serious.

?When we bumped into each other ten years later, we flirted and giggled about old times.

?A few days later, Malcolm contacted me via Facebook and asked me to be his friend.

?Then he went a bit further, using a phone app called Take Me I?m Yours, designed to get couples together. Rather than just saying you want to be someone?s Facebook friend, you flag up a romantic interest in them.? Martina felt flattered, having just come out of a serious long-term relationship. So she and Malcolm started emailing each other.

Next, they agreed to meet in London and enjoyed several dates.

Initially, she says, the idea of having a Friends With Benefits relationship suited them both well

?I liked Malcolm but I wasn?t ready for a long-term romance,? says Martina. ?He?d just come out of a long-term relationship, too, so it suited him for it to be no strings.

?We both felt shy of commitment, so we fell into the kind of casual relationship we?d had at school.?

Malcolm, however, seems more certain of exactly what sort of relationship he was after. He says: ?I knew what I wanted from her ? on-a-plate, no-strings fun. To have a friend I could enjoy being with, with the added benefit of sex.?

But Rachel Morris says that, quite apart from potential heartbreak, the belief that friends can sleep together and not wreck their friendship is just naive.

?It is fashionable, at the moment, to try to take the intimacy out of sex, to see it as a no-strings pleasure that can be picked up and put down at will,? she says. ?But human beings are not made this way.

?If it sounds a recipe for disaster, that?s because it very often is?

?Men and women derive different things from sex. Men in Friends With Benefits relationships are actually congratulating themselves on getting regular sex with no complications.

?The male wants a conquest, that is how they are programmed, and sex gives them a sense of achievement and a physical release.

?Women like the period leading up to sex ? the feeling of empowerment in having a man wanting to sleep with them.

?But once he has slept with them, they can feel powerless.? If he then just wants you as a friend,? how does that make you feel?

?Women are not biologically programmed to have sex and not care.?

It?s a lesson that 24-year-old Evie Moore has learned the hard way. She has had several Friends With Benefits, but says she has decided to draw a line under them because she feels they are hindering her from being in a committed relationship.

?Having sex with a friend can be confusing,? admits Evie, who runs an online fashion business and is also an artist.

?All the moments you enjoy in a friendship ? feeling relaxed in their company, not caring what you look like, baring your soul in the pub, admitting to all kinds of disasters and having a good laugh ? are complicated if you start sleeping together.

?It?s too easy to let the lines blur. In future, I?m going to stop blurring the boundaries like this because I think they are jeopardising my chances of having a proper relationship.

?What will other men think of you if you sleep with your male friends? It doesn?t send out a great signal about your reliability.?

Not that she regrets the long-term affairs that she has had.

After university, when Evie was doing a busy job in the City, she says it made sense to have Friends With Benefits. She was working long hours that precluded traditional dating, so sleeping with an existing friend was, she says, a ?short-cut?.

?It also took away the pressure of having to look your best and be on your best behaviour all the time ? with male friends you can be yourself, it?s easy,? she adds.

?And as long as everyone is clear where they stand ? that your relationship is not going to turn into a long-term romance ? then the theory is that it can be light and simple.

?But I?ve seen romance ruin friendships. I?m convinced now that it is best to work with boundaries and stick to them ? to keep friends and lovers separate.?

Some names have been changed to protect identities.

Sand, sea and Smartphones: European holidaymakers cannot leave the ...

New research shows that 95 percent of holidaymakers jet off with at least one Internet-enabled device in their luggage; half demand daily access to content no matter their location.

More than half of all Europeans take at least one holiday each year, which means some 250 million people are well versed in planning what essential items to squeeze into their luggage. New research from Brocade shows that, along with sun cream and swimsuits, 95 percent of European holidaymakers take at least one Internet-enabled device with them and are simply not prepared to ?switch off? from e-mail (work or personal), online entertainment or social media sites.

Half of those surveyed plan to access the Internet at least once a day while more than 40 percent actively seek destinations that offer always-on connectivity, from anywhere at anytime, placing a huge burden on service providers and leisure facilities to ensure adequate coverage in even the most remote of locations. For example, a quarter of these sun-seekers reported that they have accessed content from the beach, and, amazingly, four percent have found time to log on in the jungle.

?The findings just go to show that in 2011, we are hugely connected, no matter what we are doing, and we fully expect to be able to get online from anywhere in the world,? said John McHugh, vice president and chief marketing officer at Brocade. ?With nearly half of the people we spoke to relying on connectivity to stream audio or video files while on holiday to enhance their relaxation time, businesses need to consider what the modern traveller wants. Whether it?s a hotel or beach bar, failure to deliver online services could not only damage brand equity but also jeopardize the bottom line.?

Internet penetration in Europe far exceeds the global average ? 67 percent versus 27 percent ? and the number of users has grown almost 260 percent since 2000. Users today demand ubiquitous access to content, from wherever they might be, which has seen use of mobile devices soar in recent years; IDC, for example, states that smartphone sales more than doubled year-over-year in the first three months of 2011, seeing almost 100 million devices sold. Add to this the fact that video and TV streaming will soon surpass Web and Internet traffic, and it is easy to see how modern consumer habits are changing, even in terms of planning vacations around Internet connectivity.

According to the research, typical holidaymakers take at least one mobile device with them, such as a laptop, tablet or smartphone. The majority of respondents rely on these devices to stay in touch with friends and family at home, with 40 percent freely admitting that they cannot be separated from their social media tools.

Surprisingly, nearly a third of respondents use their devices on holiday for work reasons ? such as checking e-mails, downloading documents or just being available to customers and co-workers ? despite almost 60 percent admitting that it occasionally causes friction with their fellow relaxation seekers.

Other key findings included:

- 64 percent of respondents were aged between 25 and 44, indicating that the professional age group is driving the need for always-on connectivity

- Of the respondents, 84 percent relied on smartphones while on holiday, favouring ultra-portable devices over bulkier devices, such as laptops

- Half of those surveyed continued to use their devices (personal or work) abroad just as if they were at home, with more than three quarters regularly downloading personal e-mail and 48 percent accessing work e-mail/documents

- Only seven percent never accessed the Internet while on holiday

McHugh added: ?Whether it?s from a tablet on the beach or from a smartphone on a boat, our research has highlighted Europeans? thirst for content. How to quench that thirst is a challenge, but the ability to deliver always-on connectivity comes down to a high-performance and ultra-reliable network that has the attributes of the networks deployed inside of data centres.

?Our ?The Data Center Is Here? corporate campaign highlights how modern networks need to extend across physical boundaries and enable a common user experience wherever data is accessed, including the 250 million European holidaymakers who are accessing Internet content on their various devices. Therefore it?s important that the leisure industry and service providers ensure they don?t miss this opportunity to prosper.?

In this type of always-on business environment, the Brocade portfolio of high-performance, scalable, cloud-optimised networking solutions offer service providers and businesses the confidence to meet the demands of the roving vacationer. These solutions deliver on the Brocade One strategy of helping organizations deliver information and applications anywhere at any time. In addition, this strategy is designed to help organizations reduce both complexity and costs while extending data centre assets and services to mobile users around the world.

Egypt protesters defiant after clashes (AFP)

CAIRO (AFP) ? Hundreds of protesters were still camped out in Cairo's Tahrir Square Sunday following a night of bloody clashes with rival demonstrators loyal to the ruling military council, an AFP reporter said.

Fierce battles erupted in the Abassaya neighbourhood after anti-regime protesters were blocked from reaching the headquarters of the ruling Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF).

The health ministry said that 231 were injured when police fired tear gas and protesters were pelted with stones and rocks by rivals loyal to the army.

After the clashes, protesters headed back to join others camped out in Tahrir Square -- the epicentre of protests that ousted president Hosni Mubarak in February.

The fighting in Abassaya came hours after SCAF accused groups in Tahrir, including the April 6 pro-democracy movement, of sowing instability.

Looking tired and dispirited, protesters vowed nonetheless to continue pressing for change.

"We will stay in the square," where a sit-in is into its third week, said Mohammed Amr, 32, wearing an eye patch.

Amr, a tour guide from the canal city of Suez, was injured in the overnight clashes and doctors say he may have lost his sight in one eye.

Asmaa Ibrahim, 19, who was in Abassaya, said she was beaten during the clashes.

"They beat everyone, even the girls. We won't stop talking," said Asmaa, on the verge of tears, wearing the same yellow dress as the day before.

Under the blazing sun, a man played the oud, a traditional string instrument. He said he was trying to "cheer people up."

On Saturday, Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi, the head of SCAF and Mubarak's long-time defence minister, pledged in a television address to work for a free system through fair elections and a constitution.

But the military rulers accused the April 6 movement of "driving a wedge between the people and the army."

In a statement distributed to reporters, the youth group denied the military's accusations.

"We used to think that the revolution changed matters for the better, but we were filled with sadness after this statement was issued," it said.

Despite Mubarak's spectacular downfall, protesters have continued to take to the streets to denounce the military council over the slow pace of reform.

The military has also come under fire for alleged rights abuses and for using Mubarak-era tactics to stifle dissent.

Since July 8, protesters have camped out in Tahrir Square, vowing to continue until their demands are met.

They are calling for the trial of former regime officials, an end to military trials of civilians, the purge of Mubarak officials from senior government posts and the redistribution of wealth.

Last suspect extradited to UN war crimes tribunal (AP)

THE HAGUE, Netherlands ? The last suspect wanted by the U.N. war crimes tribunal was extradited and jailed Friday, paving the way for the final prosecution by the court created 18 years ago at the height of the bloody ethnic wars in the crumbling Yugoslavia.

Serbia's handover of former Croatian Serb leader Goran Hadzic marks the end of nearly two decades of efforts to bring to justice 161 indicted military and political figures who led the Balkans through five years of turmoil that cost more than 100,000 lives.

He is one of a handful of suspects still on trial, including the top Bosnian Serb leaders Radovan Karadzic and Ratko Mladic, or appealing their verdicts. Once their cases are finished, the court will shut its doors.

It is "a milestone to remember," said chief prosecutor Serge Brammertz. "We can feel a measure of satisfaction knowing there are no more fugitives."

Hadzic, who was caught Wednesday in a northern Serbian village after seven years at large, was flown to the Netherlands aboard a small Serbian government plane after he was allowed a last-minute visit with his ailing mother.

He did not contest his extradition, and was "extremely cooperative" when he was taken into U.N. custody in a wing of a maximum-security Dutch prison in Scheveningen outside The Hague, said the court's registrar John Hocking.

Hadzic, 53, was a warehouse worker in 1991 when Yugoslavia broke up and Croatia's minority Serbs rose in opposition to the country's independence. Through links to Serbian leader Slobodan Milosevic's secret police, he rose through the ranks, taking charge of an ethnic Serbian ministate through the brutal expulsions of thousands of people from a third of Croatia's territory.

He will be summoned before Judge O-Gon Kwon of South Korea, the tribunal's president, Monday afternoon. He will be asked to plead to each charge relating to the murder of hundreds of non-Serbs, mass persecution, and expulsions of ethnic Croats from the Krajina region.

Among dozens of atrocities, he is accused of the destruction of Vukovar and the torture and murder of more than 250 Croat prisoners seized from the ruined hospital of the once picturesque town on the Danube. His indictment describes one incident in which prisoners of war were forced to shuffle through a minefield to clear a path for Serb forces.

Brammertz acknowledged Hadzic was not among the top-ranking alleged war criminals like Mladic, alleged to have masterminded the deaths of some 8,000 Muslim men and boys, who was caught two months ago. Nonetheless, Hadzic's crimes were "extensive and great," involving a conspiracy to create an ethnically pure Serb state that crossed the borders of Yugoslavia's former republics.

Since the tribunal was formed in 1993, "the landscape of international justice has been transformed," he said, and obstacles have been overcome that were deemed insurmountable in bringing Balkan leaders to account.

Before leaving Belgrade, Hadzic was escorted to his family home in Novi Sad, about an hour from the Serb capital.

The convoy stopped in the northern city and a heavy police presence blocked the streets near the home where Hadzic went in to see his 86-year-old mother Milena, who is said to be bedridden and suffering from dementia.

Other relatives visited Hadzic in his prison cell Thursday and earlier Friday. Then, Serb Justice Minister Snezana Malovic signed the extradition order.

Hadzic was discovered Wednesday by Serbian agents who had followed a money trail that began in December when Hadzic's aides tried to sell a Modigliani painting. Analysts say Hadzic's ties to the Serbian secret police and criminal gangs that made huge profits enabled him to hide successfully for years.

Brammertz said Hadzic evaded capture seven years ago "under very suspicious circumstances, just before he was about to be arrested." The tribunal will be seeking more information about how that happened, he said.

In what Brammertz described as a coincidence of timing, the prosecution submitted amendments to his 2004 indictment several weeks ago that he said brought the charges up to date and responded to technical issues. The judges approved the new indictment on Tuesday, the day before Hadzic was seized.

Serbia for years had faced accusations from tribunal prosecutors that it was not doing enough to capture war criminals. Their judgment of Serbia's lack of cooperation was a critical element in the European Union's consideration of Belgrade's application for candidacy in the union.

"This act completed the most difficult chapter in the cooperation with The Hague tribunal," Malovic said in the Serb capital. "We have fulfilled our biggest obligations."

Separately on Friday, Mladic was assigned a lawyer to represent him against charges of genocide.

The tribunal named Branko Lukic, an attorney from Serbia who was lead counsel in four other cases before the U.N. court, to lead Mladic's defense. It had denied Mladic's first choice, Milos Saljic, because he spoke neither English nor French, the tribunal's two official languages.

Mladic told the court he cannot pay for another lawyer. The tribunal said Lukic will take on the case while the registrar assesses whether the court should pay his fees or whether Mladic can bear at least some of the cost.

Mladic is accused of commanding the massacre of 8,000 Muslim males in the U.N.-declared safe zone in Srebrenica, the most deadly act of the Balkan wars.

Sound Enrichment Therapy

Lots of people today feel anxiety from disturbances of their hearing mechanisms. These conditions include tinnitus and hyperacusis. they mistakenly believe that silence will help relieve their anxiety. The truth is that silence only makes their anxiety worse. What they actually need is to add proper types of sound into their environment.

First, a few definitions. Tinnitus refers to ringing in the ears. It represents a phantom auditory perception heard only by that individual, when no external source exists for the sound. Hyperacusis is a decreased tolerance for sounds, so that safe levels of sound are painful to the ears. Misophonia is sensitivity to specific sounds, wherein normal everyday sounds such as chewing, breathing, etc become offensive to the listener. Each of the above represents a disturbance of the auditory system. Such disturbances may exist in the ears, auditory nerves, or auditory centers of the brain.

The auditory system functions best when receiving sound. In the absence of external sound, individual ?hearing? cells become super sensitive. They listen so diligently for sound that they may pick up normal electromagnetic energy transfers from adjacent cells. This is thought to be the mechanism for tinnitus.

People with a reduced tolerance for sound often use ear plugs to block painful levels of noise. They may use them in situations such as a noisy theater, night club, crowded social gathering, or celebration with music. Sounds below 85 decibels will not damage anyone?s hearing and are considered safe. Blocking safe levels of sound actually makes hyperacusis worse, since the auditory cells become more sensitive in silent environments.

Individuals with misophonia typically experience anxiety from specific sounds associated with unpleasant memories. Introducing pleasing sounds to mask the offending sounds often prevents or relieves the anxiety that results. Energy psychology methods such as Anxiety relief Techniques(R) are highly effective for long term relief.

Adding the proper types of sound to your immediate environment can serve as effective therapy for these conditions. These added sounds must be continuous, not sporadic, and should be audible around the clock. This is especially important while you sleep in an otherwise silent room. Decide what sounds please you. Which ones relax you? These are the sounds that will work best for you.

In primitive times, humans could not survive on their own if isolated from others. So we evolved in groups, listening to others? conversations and noise making activities. This makes us feel safe. Conversely, silence often signaled danger. An advancing threat. This danger flooded our systems with adrenalin, the fear hormone. And this caused, and still causes, a feeling of anxiety.

The Sound of nature are particularly soothing for us. Sounds such as crickets chirping, water flowing, rain falling, wind in the trees. Some electronic generators mimic these sounds. Splashing water is marvelous to soothe and relax us. These sounds also provide a baseline stimulus to our hearing cells, enabling them to become less sensitive. these cells themselves -seem to relax and function much better in he presence of these sounds.

Go to TINNITUS CONTROL to learn about tinnitus causes and tinnitus effective therapies , including sound support therapy.

Amid TV, film, comics underpin annual Comic-Con (AP)

Amid the crush of "Twilight" fans and displays of upcoming movies and TV shows, the comic books that started it all at San Diego's annual Comic-Con are still there championing the heroes.

It was four decades ago that the first Comic-Con was held at an aging downtown hotel, attracting only a handful of major guests. This weekend, some 130,000 fans will roam the San Diego Convention Center at what has become the planet's premier pop-cultural carnival.

But make no mistake, Batman, the Con is still very much the comic-book fest that it once was.

Determined not to be eclipsed by Hollywood, hundreds of the industry's artists, writers and creators are attending Comic-Con this year, along with publishers ranging from DC Comics and Marvel to Image, BOOM! Studios, IDW Publishing and Oni Press.

"The comics are what I like to call the gooey center of all pop culture," said Joe Field, who owns a comic book store in Concord, Calif., and has gone to the convention annually for the past 25 years.

"Movies, TV and video games all spin out of the creativity of telling stories with words and pictures," said Field, who founded the industry's annual Free Comic Book Day. "That's why the San Diego Con has become this sort of beehive of pop culture activity, because comics are really the genesis of visual entertainment."

Running through Sunday, the convention provides a one-million-square-foot playground where comic creators, consumers, collectors or just the curious can interact with each other ? many in costume.

"The thing I love about Comic-Con is people are allowed to become superheroes; the streets are thronged with all kinds of people dressed up as their favorite comic characters," said Grant Morrison, a longtime writer of comics who is helming the upcoming relaunch of DC's "Action Comics" in September.

"I've always loved that nonjudgmental thing. The world becomes this weird Fellini-esque reality for a few days," he said.

Amy Boa, 18, of Dallas, was swept into the world of comics by actor Robert Downey Jr.

"When he did `Iron Man,' I started following all that stuff," she said earlier this week, before heading to San Diego. Now, she's buying digital comics to read even though she "never really read comics before."

The draw is so powerful that comic book websites send scores of writers to document every announcement and move by the creators. Would-be creators have their portfolios reviewed and seek advice from established pros.

Nicholas Kole, 23, went to Comic-Con last year with his portfolio in hand and ended up getting an assignment to provide a story for the annual "Flight" anthology ? a thick, full-color digest of stories contributed by both experienced hands and unknown newcomers.

This week, he's participating as a writer and artist and plans to do some networking as well.

"A lot of people complain these days that it's gone too commercial and it's not enough about comics anymore. But last year was my first time there, so I've never known Comic-Con to be anything different!" he said.

"That, combined with a confluence of weird obscure geek culture and obese men in Sailor Moon outfits? It's heaven," he said.

For the publishers, Comic-Con is a media-rich buffet in which to offer up new books, preview upcoming stories and give away freebies tied into their products.

Mike Pasciullo, senior vice president of brand planning and communications at Marvel, said that while the added mix of TV and film may have shifted the axis of the event away from comics, it's those 32-page tales that remain the backbone.

"I think there is a perception that comic books do get lost in the shuffle, but the fact that the word `comic' is in the name of the event underscores that fact that comic books always have been and always will be the foundation of the event," Pasciullo said.

Jim Lee, DC's co-publisher, says that while comics remain at the core of Comic-Con, people do come for other reasons and may stumble across the books.

"It's a great opportunity for us to evangelize and proselytize and seek out new fans, new readers," says Lee, "because a lot of people are coming because of TV shows that have very similar demographics to what we usually get for comic book readers."

Auto Repair: Benefits of Using the Same Shop for Your Entire Fleet ...

If you own a fleet of vehicles for your business, you should take them all to the same business for any necessary auto repair. There are several benefits of this approach to caring for your cars. Not only will you quickly get comfortable with the shop that you choose since you will likely go often, but you will also find that payments and warranties are simpler to handle when you stick with the same business for all your vehicle needs. Find out more details about this option.

Owning several cars automatically means that you will have to go to an auto repair shop at least a few times per year, no matter how well you take care of your fleet. This is because in addition to routine repairs, such as oil changes and tire rotations, you will probably face occasional issues that are more crucial to take care of. This may include problems with the transmission, shocks and struts, and alignment. The more often your cars are used, the more often you will need repairs to fix wear and tear.

This means that you will probably start to get used to having at least one vehicle in the shop every so often, so you might as well use the same place. This way, you will be on a first name basis with the employees, and they will know your vehicle needs so that you can get taken care of quickly and pleasantly. You will not have to describe how important the fleet is to your company each time you come in, as the employees will know to get you the repairs as quickly as possible so that you do not lose money in the meantime.

Another benefit of using the same business for all your auto repair needs is that it is often easier to pay. Not only will you know all the accepted forms of payment, but you will also often be able to invoice a few of your cars together so that you do not have to write up a new one for each vehicle that is serviced. This means less work for you and any employees, such as an accountant. Plus, you can save paper by avoiding making a new invoice for every car issue that you encounter. The shop will likely also appreciate this and will be happy to help you invoice a few repairs together so that their job is easier. A benefit is that they know you are good for the money, so if you write a check or have to be billed for the cost, they can relax and know that they will get the funds no matter what.

Many auto repair shops will likely be happy to service your fleet of cars. This kind of agreement often equates to guaranteed business for them, and you will know that you are getting good service every time. Therefore, consider picking a shop that has the knowledge and tools available to help you with nearly any vehicle issue.

It is wise to take care of your vehicle by seeing a Jacksonville FL auto repair specialist for annual repairs. For more information please see: http://www.cottmanofeastjacksonville.com/.

"I'm really satisfied with our growth ... - UK Sports Betting

Several key UK sports betting industry reports are due out at the end of the month, most notably a report by Wauters Camaj, thought by many to be the foremost authority on economic growth from within the UK sports betting sector. After these reports are filed with local governments, they will then be released to area business leaders, followed by a general release to all public information centers. For most citizens, this means a trip to the library, or a search on the web for their respective locality and any author who has written an important UK sports betting market analysis. ?Demand for these reports is high,? exclaimed Wiren Straight, Media Consultant at the local library, ?because many see them as rough investment forecasts or as prospectuses for local companies. As a result, there is a big scramble to get this info and buy into local UK sports betting businesses right away before market prices exceed a reasonable investment amount.? ?Starting up a new UK sports betting company?? queried Whitenack Difiore, an industry veteran and founder of Santina Milich LTD, ?you?ll need lots of capital, talent, luck, and financial discipline to see your project through.? Indeed, operators of the Santina Milich LTD can speak from experience. Their original foray into the UK sports betting marke began just 8 years ago with a home garage operation. Successfully marketing their UK sports betting products on the internet, they were slowly able to transform into a multi-million dollar business that now employs upwards of 100 workers. The new UK sports betting company opened across town, just about two weeks ago. The owners, Sandra Eischens, Marugg Casparian, and Hoyle Noonon, who also act as Co-CEOs of the operation, initially planned to run all day-to-day UK sports betting corporate operations themselves, but the instant demand for their product promoted by internet advertising demanded a ramp up in the employment department. ?I?m floored,? said Hoyle Noonon, ?I thought I?d be answering phone calls from creditors and writing order forms out by hand. Now that we see the potential of the UK sports betting consumer market, we?ve immediately hired new staff to meet the high demands of this market.? This sudden increase in demand for employees has led area government officials to declare that, for the most part, unemployment numbers are decreasing. ?We got start-up capital from family, friends, and a few bank loans,? said Ladnier Neisler, VP of Finance for the now well established UK sports betting company Delley Corsello & Vanveldhuize Wartenberg LLC, ?and then slowly paid each respective party off one at a time. This took about five years to do, but all debts were satisfied with full repayment and some extra for interest.? Usually, UK sports betting companies opt to go right to the public stock exchanges to get money, but there have been a noteworthy of companies that do not seek public funding, for fear of exposing themselves to high financial risk and legislation. Finally, if you?re looking to start your own UK sports betting company, it?s recommended that you begin by thoroughly researching the risks, pros, and cons of working within the UK sports betting industry by searching the web first. Then, once you have an idea of what you?re up against, set up a vast plan of how your business will operate beginning on day one. This will ensure that there will be sufficient fiscal responsibility and that you won?t ?spend out? your UK sports betting seed money before you reach the all important one year mark. ?It ain?t easy making green,? chuckled Didomenico Levitt, co-owner of the popular UK sports betting company Didomenico Levitt and Sons, ?but I must say it is easy creating a new corporate community and economic boom that will benefit those around us greatly. Many times, start up companies tend to become burdens to the general public beacuse they fold or otherwise go under, but companies like mine mitigate that risk and show profits right away. This means less foreclosures, and higher credit limits for businesspeople like me who are looking to the future of the UK sports betting industry.? ?I?ve always wanted to start my own UK sports betting company through the internet,? said Greenlee Caren, an entrepreneur, ?and now I can because of new government grants for internet start-ups.? The grant awards, which are highly competitive, go to those UK sports betting business plans that serve to benefit the greater good of the general public, improve employment opportunities, and boost local economies. Futher, because many like Greenlee Caren are having so much success online, local governments are authorizing special allocations of seed money for more UK sports betting companies in their respective municipalities.
