The final pieces of the Mooresville Recreation Department?s spring sports puzzle are being put together this week.
??????????? As of Monday, openers across the board were used to christen the MRD?s youth baseball campaign, the final one in the season?s family fold. Earlier this month, regular season play began for the MRD?s softball program that is affiliated with the North Mecklenburg Philly League.
??????????? The spring season traditionally accounts for the biggest and busiest of all MRD sessions. Softball and baseball teams fill fields in parks all across Mooresville, with play taking place every night during the week and spilling over into Saturdays as well.
??????????? In baseball alone, nary a single day goes untouched.
??????????? Diamonds at Bellingham, Edgemoor, Liberty, Magla, Mazeppa and Moor parks will be busy as can be with games involving a host of age-division levels.
??????????? At the youngest of circuits, all contests involving T-Ball League players ages 5-6 will take place at Edgemoor, doing so on select Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings as well as Saturday mornings and afternoons.
??????????? At the Pee Wee level consisting of players ages 7-8, all scheduled games are held on either of two fields at Bellingham Park, doing so on some Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings as well as on select Saturday mornings.
??????????? Players comprising the Mustang League made up of those ages 9-10 will engage in all of their games on the Liberty Park field, doing so on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings as well as on some select Saturday mornings.
??????????? All of the Bronco League affairs, catering to players ages 11-12, are being held on the Magla Park diamond, with games slated for Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays as well as on some Saturdays
??????????? At the Pony League level, consisting of players age 13-14, all games are held at Moor Park, taking place on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday evenings.
??????????? And at the oldest Colt League ranks, players ages 15-17 form the field for play on tap for Monday through Friday evenings, all at Mazeppa Park.
??????????? Also this week marks the opening of MRD-supported play in spring adult softball leagues, those games also taking place primarily at Mazeppa Park.
??????????? All of the North Meck Philly League home softball games involving MRD teams are played on the fields at North Main Park.
